Outfits Of The Yesterdays (The Blues)

♫: Don't Stop (Color On The Walls) - Foster The People

Not too much of an update for today, mostly because I have been so, so sick; and if you could somehow make this horrible webcam photo of a totally deranged person into an internets emoticon:

Tank: American Eagle Outfitters. Or GAP. Or Banana Republic.  Or whatever.
Tissue: Kleenex, old (buy them here)  (similar for less here) (and if you're really desperate - a total knock off here, shhh!)

...it'd be me! Wait, that is me.

(Oh it huuuurts.)

So here are some outfits from a few past healthier days, when I decided to take a shower like a normal person and pick the kleenex and cinnamon bears (sick food!) out of my hair like a normal person, too.

And, while I think this goes mostly without saying, any weird faces in the pictures below are just me trying desperately to not sneeze and accidentally blow my brains out of my nose. I kind of feel like it just might happen, and we have enough Kardashians-Khloe-Not-Inkluded in this world (and pure nonsense happening here on this blog) as it is:

Jacket: Nordstrom's, old (similar here) (similar at Forever 21)
Belt: J Crew, old (similar at Ann Taylor)
Yellow bracelet: Kendra Scott, c/o (similar here) (similar here)
Watch: Michael Kors Oversized Rosegold Watch (buy it here) (similar by Fossil)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Piou PIou Pumps (buy them here) (similar at Ann Taylor)

One of my favorite patterns to wear is leopard. Not only is it versatile (it goes with brown! it goes with black! and gray! and ivory!  and polka dots!) (okay! maybe not polka dots!), but it can lend a bit of fun to any outfit that needs it.

Despite its color-matching versatility it can be easy to cross the line from sweet to slop-tart when wearing leopard, so I like to stick with animal-print tops that have higher-cuts and animal-print skirts/dresses that have longer lengths. I also try to keep jewelry extreeemely minimal.  Animal prints already have enough  going on--they don't need lots of bangles or heavy necklaces to add to the crazy-crazy.

And if you like the look of leopard but still have reservations wearing it full bore, try wearing it in smaller doses.  There are a lot of great belts, shoes, bags, and bracelets out there right now!  Have fun with it.

Easy-peasy:

Blouse: Forever 21, old (similar here) (similar here) (similar for under $50)
Skirt: ASOS, old (similar here) (similar here)
Belt: J Crew, old (similar at Ann Taylor)
Ring: Forever 21 (buy it here) (similar here)
Bag: Lanvin Sweet Dora Crossbody, old (similar here) (similar by Madewell) (and here in 'camel' by Fossil)
Shoes: J Crew Mona Pumps in Pale Peacock, no longer available (similar here) (and at ASOS) (and at Piperlime)

They're both so cute, but I think that second look is one of my all time favorites of your outfits. I'm totally jealous of your ability to look demure and sassy at the same time!

I hope you feel better soon!

  3. You look absolutely wonderful in both! I reeeaaally want to add leopard to my wardrobe but I'm such a coward. It's not like it's gonna bite me, I mean its not an actual leopard (is it?) anyhow, maybe a scarf :)
I hope you feel better!!! being sick just sucks balls.

  4. Aww, get well soon Chloe! I love that skirt in your first outfit. Leopard print is super versatile ... it's the new neutral!

Love both of these looks - even with the sneeze-suppressing facial expression. :)

  8. I'm sorry the sick bug bit you! I was sick a few weeks ago during NYE, and it was NOT pleasant. Hope you feel better soon.

LOVE the leopard blouse, I can't believe it's Forever 21! It looks gorgeous with that skirt and the pretty peacock J Crew pumps.

  9. I'm starting to love leopard too! It's my transition piece to allow me to wear black and brown together. Hope you feel better!

  12. Well I have something that will make you laugh, I hope. Last night I had the oddest dream - I flew out to Denver to visit you and you were driving an old 1980s hatchback Datsun...like this: https://invimg.autofunds.com/InventoryImages/2011/10/01/1842_200908_30830008_111401012011.jpeg

    How weird, huh? LOL

  13. Hope you are feeling better soon! Stuffing a tissue in my nose always helps me too. :)

That blue skirt is stunning!  You really pull off a bold top!

My husband might be flying out soon for an interview in the Boulder area.  I have spent way too many hours looking at potential areas to live!  There are so many great places with amazing mountain views! I will keep you updated!  I will definitely need some suggestions if he does accept a job there!

  14. Well you still manage to look amazing even when you are sick! I am loving the longer length skirts on you...that's not to say the short ones don't look great!

I've been meaning to ask your advice...I'm a shortie doo-wop like you, with a long torso and short legs, but I have hiiiiiips, even though I only weigh about 120. I can't wear skirts or shoes with heels because of my job (hairdresser/nail tech) so I have trouble balancing out my body and looking taller. Any ideas?

  15. You do look quite deranged, LOL!  But on another note, I love the fuller skirt on you.  And that addition of the shoes is pure genius on your part, Chloe!

Aww, yuck. I'm plagued with perma-sniffles-and-sneezes and look like the first picture most mornings. In fact, I usually brush my teeth and start doing makeup with tissue stuffed up my nostrils. Hope you feel better soon!

Loving the combination of rust and mint in the second outfit.

  22. Oh, noes!  The cold going around right now is a MONSTER.  Which I know because I've had it for two weeks now.  I hope you're almost done with it!
