I finally had a chance this past week to sit down and peek at some of the major upcoming Spring-Summer 2012 trends. Stores are beginning to quickly fill up with them (and how many e-mails are currently sitting in our inboxes, insensitively pitching sandals and shorts and brightly-hued dresses?), which I think is probably the most bittersweet thing about fashion--it's fun! It changes quickly! And it's January, you nutty geekburgers, and I've never once needed a coral platform wedge sandal or colorblocked tank suit to wear in the snow! Not once.
Weird huh.
I must confess that I have been suppressing the overwhelming urge to yell things like, "oh YOU SHUT UP!" at the bright, springtime objects as I walk through stores and as I frantically delete all of those offensively cheery, warm-weathered e-mails. There is no point in getting angry, after all--if you can't beat them, join them.
(And Husband also claims that shrieking at clothes to shut up isn't normal and really scares people.) (He has apparently never been a 30-year old girl in a dressing room with really bad lighting after a Haagen Dazs Cookie Dough bender, my goodness.)
I am also still on my tights-eschewing kick. As I have mentioned in previous posts, we've had enough 'warm' days sprinkled in between winter to go without. It can get a little chilly at times, yes, but I try my darndest to keep any unexpected 10-mile nature hikes or surprise cross-country skiing lunch expeditions off my schedule. If you happen to love tights and not pale, winter-anemic legs, however, this look could also probably work with black tights + black booties too. Options!

I'm not really a girly pastel-hued wearing gal, but it seems to be everywhere in the upcoming warm weather collections! And sure enough, thanks to those crafty marketers, I'm hearing scratching my head thinking "maybe I can pull of mint and powder pink ..."
ReplyDeleteYou are not the only one who is loving that minty green color. I'm tempted to get a J. Crew sweater in that color, but I want something that I can wear when the real warm weather finally gets here.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to things that will be on the rack in the "color of the season", orange/tangerine.
I am all about that mint green hue and have been frantically searching for some perfect pieces (with no success yet)! I also am still obsessed with neon trend and am trying to incorporate some vivid accent pieces into my wardrobe for spring. Love that blouse & how you paired it!
ReplyDeleteLoooving that minty blouse on the first post and the leopard overload (in a good way) on the second. I'm still kind of in denial of this whole "january means winter" situation. Especially since it just started to get cold here in MN. My nails are minty green right now just to get a sense of warmer days and I kinda wish that I was immune to hypothermia so I could wear all the clothes showing up right now at stores in all those pretty hues!

The mint blouse is so cute and I am totally digging that color. BTW, that bracelet by Kendra Scott is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to the pastels and the neon. I think it would be fun to mix the two trends together for a mono-chrom look (like pastel pink with neon pink, etc.). Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons, so I'm looking forward to brightening things up a bit.
ReplyDeleteCUTEEEE outfit!!!!!! I am also looking forward to bright pops of color...

If we lived in Hawaii those emails would seem normal! :p
ReplyDeleteIs this weather normal for you in Colorado? My husband is applying to jobs in the Denver/Boulder area, so I am just curious! I have only lived in Southern California and Las Vegas!
The spring trends I'm most looking forward too are wearing tanks and shorts and sandals again. oh wait, those aren't trends, that's the norm. nevermind. dear spring, please hurry!
ReplyDeleteThose glasses are incredible! You seriously rock the vintage glam look. And mint for spring? I approve, I just love that color! I think I only own 2 things in that hue, though (a cardigan and a belt). Hmmm... time to fix that. PS. I totally almost got the satchel version of your clutch. That gray color is just perfection!
ReplyDeleteI love the mint green shade on you!!

That blouse is so pretty and soft! I love shades of green and blue too, and can't wait to add some of that color to my wardrobe since, come to think of it, I don't own much at all! I think I'm most excited about color for Spring. Bright, crazy crayon color! I'm sure I'll pair it all down with neutrals since I'm a bit shy, but I'm still very excited!

I love your mint green blouse! I am loving that color right now! Great pattern mixing on the second outfit too!

I have to admit, I have been saying rude things to the skimpy clothes in the resort collection e-mails! It's been a warmish winter for us too but not that warm.
ReplyDeleteI continue to both be in awe and admire how awesome you are at combining prints and textures. It's a gift Chloe, a gift!
ReplyDeleteOh you lucky duck you! I have been in LOVE with that leopard Old Navy coat since it first came out, but I was waiting & waiting for it to go on sale and now it's sold out online! I might just have to get myself to a store to see if I can find it hiding somewhere in the clearance racks. Such a great-looking coat! And you look darling as usual!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the rusty orange skirt with the dainty mint top!!!

It definitely isn't normal, Michelle! We usually have a good amount of warm-ish days mixed in between the snowstorms, but this has been unseasonably warm.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'll be singing a different tune here in a month or two--March is our snowiest month in Colorado. Keep me updated if your Husband gets a job in here, I'd love to have another petite blogger to kick it with! <3
I love that color! I think I only
