1. I prefer lace tops and tanks with higher necklines--lace already evokes a sense of sultriness with its peek-a-boo, airy design so cleavage is definitely not needed.
2. Look for lace tops, dresses, and skirts in interesting patterns. Lace seems like it should be a pretty standard deal, but it isn't--it can come in stripes (like the ASOS Blouse with Lace Overlay), zig zags, a variety of floral prints, and lots more. By picking a lacy piece with a bit more interest to it, it can help make the item look a little bit more luxe (even if it really isn't!).
3. Still don't feel comfortable showcasing lace as a major component in your outfit? Try a lace necklace (like the Golden Lace Long Necklace with Chains at Ann Taylor), a handbag with a little bit of lace detail, or even a pair of lace pumps or booties. It will add a pinch of pretty without seeming too precious.
Here we go! A little bit casual....

Ooh very nice. I especially like it with the skirt. Those booties look so cool close up! I imagine they wouldn't do a very good job of keeping your feet warm though?
ReplyDeleteabsolutely adorable booties!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, love! Those Valentinos are to die for! They instantly will transform any outfit. I also love your lace tips. I think the higher neckline makes a difference in keeping things classy :)
ReplyDeleteso pretty Chloe! :) I love lace too---I realized I actually own 4 lace skirts. That's crazytown! I also want to applaud you for always mixing together color combos I'd never think of. It inspires me to add color to my own wardrobe, which up until this year mostly consisted of black...and black.

Lace is a favorite of mine as well. I just love what you do with it. I would've never thought of paring with a brown crop pant and a tan belt! So clever...

Gah. You're always so adorable. I LOVE lace too. I always try to be careful not to OVERDO it because it can easily look like lingerie. :P
ReplyDeleteAlso, I LOVE that song. Holey moley. It reminds me of The Airborne Toxic Event (which is one of my favorite bands ever).
I love lace with a different color underneath. The one you have is extra special with the black overlay and the purplish undertone. I really like the casual look its super chic. The color of the pants work nicely with the lace top. Super feminine.
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute Chloe!! Love the lace paired with the skirt!

Love the casual outfit! I always like a little girliness to balance out the crisper silhouette.
ReplyDeleteAnd you have me looking at Valentino at Neiman Marcus *again*. ;)
I'm also a total lace lover - your outfits are great today, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletePlease show us more OOTD's...I spend a good 30 minutes scanning over all the details and scoping out all the links. My fave look here is with the faux fur shawl - so elegant.
ReplyDeleteLove those Valentino lace booties on you - I love lace in general and totally agree on wearing a more conservative style for lace items as otherwise they can look a little hoochy :) Looking good!
ReplyDeleteLoving the taffeta and tigers eye together! Thanks so much for the love, our Darby Earrings look fabulous with that outfit.
