Outfits Of The Days (A Little Bit Old, A Little Bit New)

Just a quick update for today! I am working on a longer post for either tomorrow or Thursday, so stay tuned...if you dare. ;)

I am still playing catch-up from over the past few months, so here is an outfit I snapped back on a cloudy day in September before we moved all of our furniture back. This outfit was a bit of a change for me, as most of you will likely notice, in that I was dressed in black almost from head-to-toe.

It was a fun change! A monotone outfit doesn't need to be a boring outfit, and I found it a good challenge to mix patent + faux fur + cotton + taffeta with an assortment of gold drippings to add some interest:

Vest: Jennifer Lopez for Kohls (buy it here) (similar here for $42) (similar here at F21) (similar at UO + take 10% off with code "TOPARTY")
Top: Bailey 44 Faux-Shrug Top, NLA (similar here at Ann Taylor) (similar here at Anthropologie)
Skirt: J Crew Marvelle Mini Bell Skirt, NLA (similar here) (and here)  (similar here at F21)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Mater Claude (buy them here) (similar here for $49.95) (similar here at Target)
Tassel Necklace: Topshop, NLA (similar here)
Five stone necklace: J Crew, NLA (similar here) (similar at ASOS for $25)
Bag: Chanel Crackled Patent Camel Classic Flap (similar here) (and here by DKNY) (and here for under $100)

And here we are, back to a little bit of Colorado-style. Choker necklaces are a new-ish trend that has been popping up everywhere recently, and while these sleek and elegant necklaces look great under things like simple silk blouses I really like layering them with longer necklaces, too.

In fact, a male friend remarked last week (upon seeing me) that I wear a lot of jewelry. I asked if it was too much and his only answer was, "It's a lot...but for you? Nah."

Oh GOOD.  Whew!  'Cuz I would still wear all this jewelry (no matter how he answered) anyway, a haaaa:

Blouse: Banana Republic, NLA (similar here) (similar here)

  1. I love all your jewelry and accessorizing, Chloe! The first look is great with all the textures and the second seems very 70s-inspired to me.

  11. I'm loving all of the hats lately, Chloe. You've inspired me to branch out. I'll definitely be picking up the asymmetrical fedora from Gap.

  14. I love both looks! The second one looks especially cool. I love that you can wear flares (which I don't usually like) and fur/faux fur? (which I also don't usually like) and look great!

I also like how much jewellery you wear. I wish I could always wear matchy and spot-on accessories like you.

  21. Living as I do in the land of the all-black fashion uniform, I tend to kick a little at the concept of it, but I love how you've done that one. The combination of the fur and a little sheen on the skirt and the golf is just great!

  22. Thanks guys! <3

allison*elle - I was definitely shooting for a bit of a 70's vibe in my second outfit, so yay! <3

    fifi - thank you!

    BeautyGirl24 - thank you!

Candy Apple Fashion - aw, thank you! I have to confess, though, that I get runs in my tights just like everyone else. But I'll take a 'perfect' compliment anytime I can get it!

Miss Lindsay - I love LC's line at Kohl's, but definitely check out Jennifer Lopez. She has a (super) surprising amount of wearable pieces. There are definitely some "I've been attacked by a disco ball 'cuz I'm going clubbing in Miami" pieces, but the sweaters and outerwear in her collection all pretty much rock!

    yuni.k - thank you! <3

TaraMixandMatch - thanks! I just fiddle around with all of it until I think it looks fun. Easy peasy.

Andi - Hi Andi, glad to see you popping in! And thanks.

    NatashaXOXO - Thanks!

Lindsay A Turner - Thanks Lindsay!

    Mary Ann - Thanks, darling!

Abby - ooh, glad to hear it! I really do love a good hat--they're fun to wear, plus (if they sit low enough on my forehead) they make me feel like I'm in incognito, too. Even, er, if I don't look like I'm hiding, hehehe.

Anneke Hildebrand - done & done! More OOTD posts will be coming up soon. <3

The Little Dust Princess - Thank you! It's kind of strange how little I actually wear black, I think I'm going to be working it back into my wardrobe a bit more.

Contrary Kiwi - thank you! I wasn't a huge fan of faux fur until this year, not sure why, but I can't get enough of it at the moment. And it keeps me warm, too! <3

Jenn The Stylish Housewife - xoxo!

    Just Patience - thank you!

Alexi - Hahaha, THANK you! I'm always happy to know when something I wear is inspiring, it's the best compliment!

Lesli - me too! I need to wear them more, uff.

House Of Hemingway - LOL. I should do a giveaway contest one of these days - first person who guesses where my remote is hidden wins! (Sometimes I'm pretty obvious with it though, especially if the battery is low and I'm too lazy to replace the batteries!).

Rosa Loves DC - Thanks Rosa! <3

gigiofca - yay! Hi Gigi! Thanks for popping in, and thank you.

    Annabelle - *curtsies* *curtsies *curtsies*

  24. Just found your blog and I am crazy about it! I was raised in Colorado and just left Colorado a year and a half ago with my boyfriend to move to Texas but we hope to get back to Colorado soon. I'm a new follower of your blog and I can't wait to poke around a bit more.
