First things first! In case you didn't hear the good news: H&M is FINALLY coming to town! I am so, so excited--it's about darn time we joined the year 2006 here in Denver, isn't it? And here's a little bit of trivia for you, too: did you know that H&M originally started out as just Hennes ("hers" in swedish)? Mauritz was added later on when the company joined forces with a hunting equipment store called Mauritz Widfross, and that is how we now have Hennes & Mauritz...or H&M. Those swedes are sure fun, aren't they.
Second in the category of good news: I better see all of my local Denver stylistas at the first annual Denver Style Expo this weekend, especially at the Denver Top 10 Fashion Show featuring Mondo Guerra on Saturday night! Makeover Stations! Hourly runway shows! Workshops! And all for a $10 admission! It will be the cheapest thing that you will ever buy in the world of fashion, and it won't take up an inch of space in your closet, either. Head right here for the location & ticket information.
On to the outfit. I am finally settling back into the old bump and grind of being back home. I am still working on OOTD's from Vegas, which is quickly turning into a massive post, but until then here's something to tide ya'll over until I get around to posting those sometime next year. Hardy-har.
Spring is all about bright and bold colors, which is what immediately attracted me to this skirt! But floral skirts sure can be a bit fussy to wear, can't they? The darling and sugary-sweet factor of them can also be part of their downfall; pair with the wrong blouse and shoes and you'll look like you're still wandering lost from last year's the Easter parade.
I decided to pair this skirt with fun shoes, a camp shirt I recently scored at H&M, and a bright yellow bag to try to tone down some of the twee-ness. I then topped it all with a sneaky snake necklace ready to tiptoe er, slither through the tulips and ta da:
Yay for H&M coming to your hood! You're gonna enjoy yourself a lot, I'm sure! $10 admission for a day of style? SHUDDUP. We need something like that here, stat! Lovely outfit, thanks for sharing!!
Looking fabulous as always! I think the expression is tide you over. I certainly don't mean to be rude, I was just looking back at one of my posts recently and noticed an error I wished someone had pointed out. Have a great afternoon!
Shasta Anne - aw THANK YOU! And so happy to see you still hopping around on the blogosphere too- I miss you on twitter. :(
Closet Crisis - thank you! And I know - you can't beat $10 a ticket. Something tells me, though, that since this is the "first annual" for the event that the ticket prices will be muuuch more expensive next year. It always goes that way!
Natasha - aw, thank you!
Mrs. Spanglish - thanks! I love the shoes too--Rachel Rachel Roy really does make fun shoes at a super great price point.
Elizabeth - Ahahahaha! Not rude at all! I actually spent 2 seconds thinking about the expression and exactly what it meant (and then clearly forgot to google it to see if it was "tie you over" or "tide you over"). Thank you for the kind correction, it is much appreciated! <3
RosaLovesDC - OH YES, I am leaving the iphone at home and bringing the heavy camera this time!
Well, I mean, I'll still have the iphone so I can tweet obnoxiously all through it. Of course.
Grace - I agree! Denver is moving up in the world, isn't it? Have you seen the IKEA sign yet though? It's like a huge beacon. I can darn near see it from my home!
Tangles- Thank you! It's definitely an evolution...I look back on my outfits from two years ago and think, "ouch". A bit of practice always makes things a little more perfect...
ooh, congrats on the H&M, that IS great news I absolutely adore that store. And of course I'm loving your outfit, the skirt is SO dreamy & it's beautifully styled -GORG! xx veronika

I LOVE this outfit - so fun for Spring and I love that you paired the colorful skirt with a more muted top. I never would have thought of a camp shirt, but it's love. ;) I'm jealous that you get an H&M (interesting tidbit on the name, by the way...) My area will be the LAST to get one, but that is only after(IF) we get any other cool store first!
Chloe, Colorful Colorado. 5'8" (only) when teetering in her highest 6 inch Miu Miu platform heels. Likes fashion, broccoli, ice cream, clarifying that she does not eat ice cream with her broccoli as to not cause worldwide panic, hoarding beauty products & pretty shoes, tickle fights with her husband (he would like to clarify that he does not like them back, OKAY?), anything covered in sprinkles, any alcoholic beverage made with Tang, live music, clicking the camera, sarcasm fonts, vases stuffed full of pretty flowers, and laughing hard until her belly hurts. Wants an adventurous life, lots of puppies, to never obtusely wander around with her fly down, and to be an iconic Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress with a bright, festive print when she grows up. This is where she bravely documents it all. (oh you really want more, do you?)
LOVE LOVE LOVE these pics! You always have such wonderful, happy and fun pics and poses. Great inspiration little missy!
