See Chloe Shop (Happenin' Today...)

(shopsheboutique.com)

I hope everyone is having a fun holiday! I have been, which is why I haven't been around much. Yikes.

I did add four new sales today (Treesje, Amrita Singh Jewelry, Max Studio, and Shop She Boutique) to the list, though, plus most of the sales on the list end tonight! Over 50 of 'em.

So check them out, and happy shopping!

See Chloe Shop (Happenin' Today...)

(take 25% off at toryburch.com)

Hopefully it's a beautiful day where you're at, and you're spending some time outside reveling in it!

But a few things are going on here today. I've added brand new "my picks" for nearly every single retailer in the big old list at See Chloe Shop (yay!), plus new sales today for New York & Co, Bakers Shoes, and Endless.com. There are over 50 sales in the list right now, which I'm pretty sure is the biggest list I've ever had (does it make your head hurt? It makes mine!) and you can check them all out right here.

And I put up an article over at Simply Chic yesterday with a few vintage shopping tips. I've had a few of you write in asking me to either share the sellers I shop with or to post up some tips, and a girl can't give away all her secrets! Or else you guys would get to all the good stuff before I do, hee hee. But this is how I do it, and thankfully there are enough great sellers out there to go around.

And last but not least- I'm extending the Sephora gift card giveaway through this weekend! It'll end Monday night, and you can click right here to enter.

Happy Saturday, guys!

Outfit Of The Day (Strippity Stripes)

It's rare that I get the chance to snap an outfit the actual day I wear it, but I had a few extra minutes today.

I got my little hands on the Hello Sunday blazer and um. YES! Love it. I'd been hunting for a stripey blazer and tried on several at H&M (when I was in Minneapolis), Urban Outfitters, etc- and they all had one fatal flaw. The labels would not stay open, so the cool stripey effect would be lost and sloppy. This blazer actually has the lapels sewn to the sides, meaning that I can wiggle all over and the stripes remain muss-free. It's also made out of a thick cotton, so it's cozy without being too fussy. Perfect for cool summer nights, so don't ask why I'm wearing it right now on a 95 degree day.

But we're heading out for ice cream + a movie. DATE NIGHT, YAY!

Outfit Of The Day (Waterflorals)

Ohhhh dear. You might notice that my comment area looks a little sad and barren. I have no idea what happened exactly, except I checked my blog this morning and POOF! All gone. I can still see them when I log into Disqus though, so thanks for all the nice comments yesterday! The comment form appears to be working again though, so that's good.

Uff da, computer problems, meh.

So moving on. It's almost Memorial Day! The kind-of-sort-of-kick-off to summer! Exciting! Do you guys have any big plans? I'm not quite sure of ours yet. We're not traveling ,since we're doing that later this month, but as long as we work in some time for some of this (and maybe some of this) (and okay, some of this too) (she's sleeping- not dead) I think I'll be golden.

On to the outfit. I wrote about the cardigan I'm wearing here; I love it so much that I actually just ordered it in black, too. It's rare that I buy the same thing in different colors, but when organizing my closet last week I realized I only had one (ratty, dingy, gaaasp) black cardigan. Yay, my big huge problem in life, solved.

I also snapped up the Papillon Waterfloral Pastiche blouse last week when J Crew was running their 20% off promo. It had recently dropped into the sale section and the Waterfloral Pastiche print (in "cotton candy", no less!) is so darn pretty, I couldn't help it. I also like that it works with my Pippa peep toes.

And you can't see it very well in these photos, but my nails totally match my heels today too, thank you Sally Hansen Insta Dry in Lively Lilac.

I couldn't help the matching nails; it just had to be done:

Shoes: J Crew Pippa Heels (similar style here) (and here)
Bag: Fendi B Bag (similar style here) (similar style here) (and here)

And speaking of things that just have to be done? This just has to be done too, except...I'm not quite sure exactly what it is that I'm doing. Um:

Outfit Of The Day (Ace of Lace)

So as most of you know, I'm not lucky enough to have a boyfriend or Husband to snap my pictures. Imeangoshwait. I have a Husband (and yes, I capitalize Husband out of habit and have even been known to call him "Husband" to others in real life, as some people can attest), but a photographer he is not. This is what happened the last time I let him snap my picture, nearly two years ago:

(I know it looks like I might be smiling in the blurry snapshot above, but I'm actually asking, "Am I in focus? Am I in focus? Am I in focus? Are you sure I am in focus?")

So needless to say while he has a bunch of other handy talents (making kickass french toast, saying funny things, and being my favorite person ever), photography probably isn't one of them.

But I always get slightly jealous over some of the fashion bloggers that get to play muse to their significant other's kickass photographic talents (like Tiffany and Emily, hm?). I only get to play muse to my own self-taught talent in this field, which involves me snapping awkward photos of myself oddly walking around since I (apparently) have no idea how else to pose. No change of scenery either due to my set-up; I keep thinking that I need to take a picture of how I have my camera rigged up to my awful tripod (so it doesn't tilt) because it's pretty hysterical until I remember oh yeah- I can't take a picture, because my camera is literally tethered and bound with duct tape, paperclips, a few wads of half-chewed gum, and about 55 feet of Christmas-colored ribbon.

(I'm kidding about the paper clips. I mean gum. What!)

BEHOOOOLD! THE MAGIC!

Outfit Of The Day (& Etc.)

I'm alive!

Baaaarely. I could fill the next few paragraphs up with some whiny-I'm-sick-it-hurts-drivel, but who wants to read that? No one! No one at all! So I'll just keep my yammer shut.

(But I've been siiiick. Owww.)

I have been around in a few areas in the approximately 34.7 minutes I spent awake over the past few days; I wrote an article about self-tanners here (and then realized that the next few pictures I have for my "Outfits of the Days" shows me wearing no self-tanner, so what a wonderful person I am to be writing about such things) (also, 500 bottles of St.Tropez Whipped Mousse were re-ordered two nanoseconds after personally viewing the following pictures, so don't you worry your pretty little head) (Chloe); I also had the chance to go shopping with Husband on Saturday night, which only happens about once a year, and I had fun! You can check out some of the stuff I scoped out if you want; some of it might show up on this blog sooner or later, too.

It's always fun getting Husband's opinion on things, even if most of them are slightly incoherent and not fit for this blog-that-my-mom-sometimes-reads. Heh.

I'd also like to give a big shout-out to the lovely J over at The Look 4 Less for shouting me out in a local magazine! Talk about a big surprise, and it totally made my day. I'd also totally shout her out if I had a local magazine to shout her out in, but for some strange reason no one around here asks me for my shouty-out-opinion on things.

I don't get it either.

Local magazine, I am waiting.

Her blog is full of fun-fashion-goodness, though, so if you haven't checked it out yet--go!

Anyway, on to the outfit. I've pretty much decided that these silk Tibi shorts are easily the best thing I've bought in a long, long time, and I'm pretty sure my dry-cleaner loves me for it, too. Ouch:

Outfit Of The Day (Lazy Sunday)

I have found myself lately gravitating towards...well. Weird shoes. I'm not sure where this has come from, because I certainly still like pretty shoes too. I simply think there's something a bit easy about wearing a slightly-out-there-piece-of-footwear; I've been gravitating more towards less necklaces/rings/bracelets/embellishments and more weird shoes to pull together whatever particular look (statement?) I'm trying to achieve.

Less is more for this, I think; wearing an odd pair of shoes should be like a mullet that's been flipped one turn clock-wise. Business in front, party in the back to business on top, party on the bottom. Such as, such as, such as:

Jacket: Nanette Lepore Spice Island Jacket (similar style here) (and here - on sale) (and here)

Chloe's Capacious Closet (Consider This An Invitation, To My Gangsta Nation)

You might (or might not) have noticed that I've been a little quiet over this way for the past week or two. A girl needs a break every now and then, and while I enjoy writing and blogging that doesn't mean I always have the energy/time/patience/brain cells to do it.

(So yes, hi to my Auntie that asked if I ever have days where I can't write. I had a whole week! And I kept waiting for Kitty or Petunia or Husband to give me material, but. Never happened. FIRED, YOU ARE ALL FIRED. ALL OF YOU.)

Soooo. I still don't have much to write about, but that's okay. With an impending major home remodel that will soon be underway and a June that is full of traveling/roadtrips/vacations, I'll be eating my words shortly.

(And maybe posing for my Outfit Of The Days with construction foreman and a hard hat.)

(What-what?)

I snapped this little dress up from Free People nearly a month ago and love it. It's a perfect little summer shift- light, easy to wear, and has a cute swingy shape. Looking at these pics, though, I desperately want a different belt around the middle. Gold, maybe. Yes, I need a fabulous gold belt. Like this! But cheaper. MISSION ACCEPTED.

Although it doesn't really need a belt- it has a reeeeeally cute shape to it, as you can see in the last photo. But you know. Me and my belts.

I also brought the Valentino bow pumps out to play:

Feel Good Friday (Don't Just Stand There, Bust A Move)

A little late, but better late than never. I have no idea where I found this at, but I've had it bookmarked for a bit and well hey. Mindless entertainment! Old dude can move better than I can. It's kind of impressive:

Speaking of dancing, I had a reader email me with a small request- her niece, Anabel, is a tapdancer and competing for the chance to perform her routine at a festival this summer in Chicago. Her request? To go vote for her niece! You can click right here to check the contest out, see videos of the dancers, and vote; voting is easy (and requires no registration- it's just a polldaddy poll, like I use here!). Since I'm not a dancer, kids that can dance always impress me. Go, Anabel, go!

And last but not least, Stevie sent this to me the other night. I could watch this over and over again, OMG:

(I just hope I'm not the only one that expected his little baby elephant ears to double in size after the sneeze.)

Happy Friday Saturday!

Outfit Of The Day (Blogger's Block)

One of my faaaavorite runway shows for Spring 2010 was Dior, and after seeing this outfit I set out trying to find a pretty purple dress. I had a few codes for Bloomingdales (oh yes, retailers, simply send me, "We Miss You! Come Back! Here's a Code, Sucker!" email and I'm hitting the check out button before I even get past the 'we'), so this Free People dress ended up being almost 50% off. Not too bad, not too bad.

I love this dress, it's really pretty, but holy shortness! I don't mind it so much myself, but given that I'm really short (and my legs are even shorter), I'm not quite sure how the model managed to wear this and have it still cover up her Britney. A lot of Free People dresses seem to run short, which is awesome for the petite crowd...but probably not so awesome for the rest of you normal-sized people. Yooooou. Normal-sized. Pfft.

I'm kind of curious to grab this slip to see what it looks like underneath it, but the dress has such a cute little swingy shape to it and I'm pretty sure that slip is only going to accentuate it to the point of maybe being obscene. Or maybe like ruffles are exploding out of my butt.

Outfit Of The Day (Present Yo'self)

A commenter on See Chloe Shop yesterday requested that I do more "Admired & Acquired" posts, since I'll often post something in an Outfit Of The Day loooong after I buy it and by that point, poof! It's gone off of the internets.

So! Done and done. I'll try to be a bit better about reviewing things when I get them, since I know it's helpful to anyone else that might interested in buying it. I'm just the world's biggest procrastinator, so it's more helpful to me to do the exact opposite. :D

The Present Yourself jacket from Anthropologie arrived yesterday. I had ordered it when it first popped up online, prior to it having any reviews on the website, so I was nervous over the fact that the few reviews that appeared over the weekend all said that the jacket ran reeeally small.

Well--they're right. It's small. It seems like lately I've been sized out of a lot of things in Anthropologie (like this top- I'm swimming in the XS, which is mortifying) but this jacket definitely isn't one of them. I ordered my usual size that I wear in jackets and it's tight. Tiiiiight. But I kind of like it that way, readers; I always like my jackets to be fitted. If you want it to fit like how it does on the mannequin, however, I strongly recommend ordering up a size. Or maybe even two sizes. Oh yes- it's that small.

It's also shorter in length, which means that taller people might want to skip it (I'm 5'2" for perspective). And it's also linen, so it's a wrinkly little mother-farter. But in this instance the linen helps--the jacket looks polished, I think, but not look too stuffy, rendering it versatile enough to be worn day or night. And it's also machine washable. Bonus points, woohoo.

I didn't spend much time styling it for these shots- I just threw it over what I was already wearing. I'm Casual Chloe today. I'm still tired and not feeling very effervescent. What's new, what's new:

Jacket: Present Yourself Jacket by Idra (buy it here)
Tanktop: J Crew (buy it here)
Necklace: Ann Taylor (similar style here) (and here) (and here)
Shorts: American Eagle Outfitters (buy them here)
Shoes: J Crew Pippa Patent Peep Toes (similar style here) (and here)
Bag: Chloe Saskia Satchel (similar style here) (and here) (and here) (and here for under $100!)

PS- It's the last few hours to sign up for the $100 shopbop giftcard give away! I'm closing the contest at midnight tonight. :)
