Christmas Time (Was) Here

And taking another moment to post up some pictures from Christmas at my house!  I've been MIA from blogging this way over the past few weeks because I still have family in town; while it's been a blast to get some quality-hanging-time in and do fun things with them, I'm not going to lie - I am looking forward to taking the longest nap EVER after they leave Sunday morning. I am beyond zonked at the moment and on Full Chloe Zombie mode, creekity-creek, chompity-chomp.

So!  One of the best Christmas gifts that I received this year was my dad and Husband finally hanging my new light above the fireplace! Our remodeling process has ground to a halt lately due to the craziness of the holiday season, Husband working a lot (and devoting most of his free-time to coaching a lot, too), and the fact that I'm pretty sure if I ask enough times Husband will finally get the hint and totally get Extreme Home Makeover (WITH MARIAH CAREY!) to come over and get it all done lickity-split during a weekend when I'm away traveling, as I'm pretty sure that's how most all home remodels work.  Hence, um...we've gotten nowhere.

That is until now.  Here's my new light, finally hung up in its spot:

A few of you emailed me inquiring where I got it from after seeing a shot of it yesterday in my pics; it's from Z Gallerie and retails for $399 and ohmygoodness- I love it!

A word to the wise, however- the way it's rigged in my home isn't the way it's meant to be hung. The light originally came with four wires that could be adjusted in length (one on each corner on top of the square metal grate that the shells dangle from) which would make it a snap to install on a flat ceiling.

But since nearly every ceiling in my house is vaulted, we decided to snap the wires, integrate the same pole from which a ceiling fan originally hung, secure that pole to the middle of the metal grate, and then hang the entire light off that instead.  It worked brilliantly, I think, and saved all of us the obnoxious trouble of adjusting wires all day so it'd hang straight at an angle.

Thank goodness for smart and handy dads, hm?  And super-thank-goodness for hard liquor, TI's newest album entitled No Mercy, and leaf blowers...as I'm pretty sure that's the only way to actually dust the sucker, envy me if you will.

  1. I really enjoyed this post, your blog always makes me laugh. Loved the shots of the puppies-- is the yorkie a puppy? SOooooo insanely cute! I am melting. Also, your twin sister and you are equally gorgeous. Her edgy hair is awesome! And lastly, the light fixture is AMAZING. Just reading the whole process of putting it up gives me a headache so major kudos to your husband and dad for doing such a great job!

    Happy New Year Chloe!

  7. Love the photos- it looks like you had a great Christmas! It also looks like your dad and mine have a lot in common--the talented handy man with a dry sense of humor who always thinks he is sooo witty. And that is why you love him ;)
The light is awesome and although you will have to use a ladder + leaf blower or maybe jetpack + leaf blower, it is SO worth it!
    Love the CL's, too!

I know your blog in 2010 has been all about The Fashion and shopping, but your glimpse-into-the-life-of-Chloe posts are what got me hooked on you in the first place. I miss your craziness! So, thanks for the Christmas update. And no, I'm not stalking you. Hee.
