Saying Goodbye to '09 (While Looking All Lovely And Divine)

Holy. Moly. I can't believe it's already New Year's Eve. That's okay though. I am so ready for this year to be over, so I will spare y'all from the usual tut-tutting and "Oh gee, where did this year go?" 'CUZ I KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THIS YEAR WENT. IT WENT DOWN A BIG SUCKING HOLE OF SUCKY SUCKYNESS, THAT'S WHERE.

And I mean, don't get me wrong here- a lot of good happened with the bad in 2009, I know. But it's just that the bad was so unbelievably bad. I still can't wrap my head around all of it.

But no matter. I'm pretty sure that when the clock strikes midnight and the calendar switches over to 2010, things will immediately improve. I always have been kind of dumb that way. And if things don't improve, well. You can find me in my bed, hiding under a few chihuahuas and a big pile of clothes.

So! Moving on here. I've been having a lot of fun screwing around in Photoshop lately, and I decided a few days ago to do up a little bit of "Chloe styling math" for New Year's Eve.

Because you just can't let old-timey pictures of women drinking go to waste. In other words, readers- which druuunk retro lady are you? You can click on the pictures for more product information:

Deal(s) Of The Day (Thursday):

There are lots of good deals today- retailers are having one final (big!) heave-ho before the year ends, and let's see what there is to see, shall we?

Ann Taylor
The deal: Shop the Semi-Annual Sale and take 30 to 70% off lots and lots of goodies. If the sale doesn't pique your interest, you can use code "HOLIDAY30" to take 30% off all full-priced purchases of $150+,
The picks: A lot of old goodies have popped back up on the site- like this Cotton Tuxedo Shirt, which I own and love. The Angora No Close Cardigan is freaking-fabulous, too, and I'm pretty sure I need these black ruffle flats.

Revolve Clothing
The deal: It's the last day to use code "DJP30" to take 30% off your order. A few restrictions apply, but it works on Nanette Lepore and really, that's all I care about.
The picks: Nanette Lepore Good-bye top. It has to be one of my favorite tops I've bought all year. For those of you interested in the NL Spice Island jacket that I'm wore in yesterday's outfit post, you can also get it for 30% off (in navy) at Revolve! Woohoo.

Banana Republic
The deal: Take an additional 20% off all sale with code "BREXTRA20" - good online only!
The picks: The Silk Rosette Dress. It's so pretty (yes, um, I also own it) and is surprisingly easy to dress up and/or down. I'm also slightly obsessed with this Ruffle Bib blouse, but the color I want is sold out online in my size. Boo.

Bloomingdales
The deal: The After Christmas sale is almost over! Take an additional 3o - 50% off select merchandise. No code necessary, discount applied at check out.
The picks: Bloomies has suddenly had a lot of weird popbacks uh, pop up (duh), so it's worth checking out the sale again to see if there's anything new. I love this pink, ruffly Nanette Lepore top and this pretty-in-purple dress which is 40% off. Also on sale? This gorgeous Diane Von Furstenberg dress. Eek!

(And if the berry pink hue of the DVF dress isn't your style, you can find it on sale in a pretty floral print right here.)

Urban Outfitters
The deal: Take an additional 25% off on all sale items- no code necessary, discount automatically applied at check out.
The picks: I am intrigued by this floral-skirted dress. On me it'd be a hot mess, but on the right person? Hmm. This is also a hot little number (cha cha cha) and this little Kimchi Blue Ruffly tank would be perfect to tuck away until summer.

Endless
The deal: Shop the Winter Sale and save up to 45%.
The picks: These L.A.M.B. Randi pumps (in the nude color!) are stunning- and they're 51% off. Also on sale? These pretty little Marc by Marc Jacob flower flats, and in case you missed out on the trend the first time- the MBMJ mouse flats are also now on sale.

Happy shopping, darlings! ♥

Dear eDressMe:

Clearly, I need to work harder on my own posing.

Chloe

Outfit Of The Day (A New View)

Well, not a new view per se. But a new lens. And I like it, readers. I like it a lot!

For these pictures I just spun around and hit the clicker a bunch of times, so they probably aren't my best work. It'll take me awhile to figure this new lens out, as I'm stubborn and like to learn things the hard way through trial and error. But so far, so good- it's nice to finally have something other than a portrait lens, hm?

Moving on, and here we have a KINDA SORTA DRAPEY SKIRT A LA BALENCIAGA FALL 2009 OMG OMG OMG. Yes, that is exactly what it's called. This Foley & Corinna version is a bit more tame and much more wearable, but the idea is there and my dreams = have officially come true.

Also, if I had a kid I'd totally name it Balenciaga, just 'cuz it is so fun to say, which is officially reason # 1239861271263 as to why I should probably never have kids. That and I'm pretty much convinced cough syrup cures everything, so the kid's middle name would totally have to be "Nyquil", and come on Chloe that's just mean.

Balenciaga! Nyquil! Balenciagaaaa! Jazz hands!

Wednesday Wants.

It's Wednesday Want time! This is what I am making grabby hands at during this very last week of 2009. I mean, I can't ask for anything more than I've already received/acquired this year- I'm a very lucky little lady, yes I am- but that doesn't mean I still can't look. Right? Right.

And I mean, I would hate for you all to be misled into believing I actually buy everything I post about, because I certainly don't. Ha ha ha, no way jose. That's why I have this little weekly feature of things I want, but don't actually buy.

'Cuz I only really buy, maybe, you know- 75% of it.

(Ha ha ha KIDDING. I am kidding. Although Husband asked me a few months ago if J. Crew had secretly set up a warehouse distribution center in our house against his better knowledge and I had to blink and play all startled-and-dumb-like. What? J Crew? Noooo.)

(Shopbop maybe, but not J. Crew.)

(At least Husband doesn't do what my dad used to do to me, which was apprehend the shit I'd order from the mailman before I was even aware of its existence, hastily wrap it up, and then present it in some sort of bizarre re-gifting ritual where he'd give it to me as a birthday and/or Christmas gift. Oh, surprise! Happy Birthday! You ordered that seven months ago.)

(That was before we had high-tech UPS tracking. Also, Husband hasn't quite gotten that plucky yet.)

(Although Husband, I AM SO ON TO YOU. DON'T YOU DARE.)

(And I'm also hoping that 2010 will be the year that Shopbop officially changes their name to Shopblop, because that's what I keep typing and let's be honest- it's way cooler.)

(I should always be in charge of naming things, obviously, as I do have a chihuahua named Kitty.)

(Short for Kathryn.)

(Whatever. Don't give me that look.)

(Shopblop!)

OKAY:

Nanette Lepore Flores Sea Dress- Shopblop
So let's be honest here. This is a pretty, pretty, pretty dress, and I certainly made eyes at it when it first popped up on Saks and Neimans and Bloomies. But honestly? The other models don't do it nearly the justice that Old Red does it. I always notice the models (and how they jump from one label to another, I'm talking to you Miss J Crew (see?)) but there will never be another Old Red. I freaking love her. I hope Shopblop still has her as a model even when she's all old and wrinkly and washed-up and 90 35.

Oh, yeah, right. Dress! Pretty. A bit too much, perhaps, into the always-a-bridesmaid-and-never-a-bride-zone for me. But still.
Pretty.

Kate Spade Madeleine Maggy Top
In favor of the tiered ruffles (AND THE BOW!), I will handle this situation very maturely and like an adult and ignore the obnoxious polka dots that make me want to come completely unhinged and have a complete throw-down with (or perhaps stick my tongue out at) Miss Spade. Tiered! Ruffles! BOW! What polka dots?

Mackage Isa Coat
I want a Mackage coat bad bad bad, even if only in theory. I have no neck, and I'm pretty sure this would make me look like a leettle Chloe cartoon turtle stuck in her shell, but that's okay. In my head, this coat totally makes me look all long and leggy and bangy and smarmy- just like Old Red at Shopbop. It's pretty much amazing, this coat. In my head. Okay.

The iPod Gramophone - Hammacher Schlemmer
So this is definitely a want-but-cannot-have, mostly because it's nowhere to be found on the Hammacher Schlemmer website. Oh, and it's also a very cheap $500. A drop in the bucket, really, Hammacher Schlemmer-inski old buddy, no problem. I think I will buy one for every room in my house, including the laundry room and storage rooms and bathroom(s), and maybe even one each for Kitty and Petunia's crates. Hammacher Schlemmer Gramophones for all! Try saying THAT 10 times fast, oh yeah.

But oh, okay- it's neat! I just like looking at it, even if I secretly think it's ridiculously overpriced and that iPods are the work of the devil (or someone that obviously has a lot patience) (and/or does not have arthritis in their hands) (and/or a Canadian)( a Canadian wearing polka dots) and so yes.

Want it. Cannot have it. Woo.

Nemo the Cairn Terrier
Nemo is the cutest little munchkin in the whole wide world. Nemo also belongs to my co-worker! I'm mostly posting this just to see if my co-worker finds it (hi co-worker!), but also because I may or may not be hatching a grand little plan to snatch Nemo away from her and leave Petunia behind instead, you know- just to see if she'll notice. And I'm totally pretty sure she wouldn't. At least not for a few hours. Squish.

PS coworker- Petunia is so easy to take care of. She likes cheese and crackers and growling at small children. See? Give her those two (three?) things and she's happy. Easy. :)

Happy Wednesday readers, and stay tuned for a (new!) (finally!) Outfit Of The Day later, yippee!

Deal(s) Of The Day (Wednesday):

Basic Boutique
Deal: Take 40% off your entire purchase (including sale!) at Basic Boutique with code "luckyweek2". Offer valid through 1/4/10.
The picks? I am totally in love with this strangely-demure-yet-still-slinky-sexy Vena Cava blouse. This Rebecca Minkoff Scoopneck Pleated Dress is also stunning- check out that back! Holy shmoly moly.

Goldyn (Shop Goldyn)
Deal: Take 30% off all dresses (including sale!) with code "NEWYEARS", plus receive free shipping on all orders $100+. Offer valid through 12/31/09.
The picks? Dresses by 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent- like this pretty peach frock. This plummy purple number is divine, too. I also love that Goldyn is "local" for us Coloradans. Support your local businesses my darlings- it's so important, mmhmm.

Shabby Apple
The deal: Take 20% off your order with code "winter20off". Thanks to Diana for this one!
My picks? I've never actually ordered from this site, although I have been tempted time and time again by this Giraffe-print dress. It might be time to pull the trigger here, my little monkeys, especially with (oh holy moly) this!

Otte NY
The deal: Take 20% off your purchase of all regular-priced items with code "INSTYLE09" now through 12/31.
My picks? Gimme, gimme, gimme.

J Crew
The deal: Take 20% off final sale plus receive free shipping on all orders $150+ with code "EXTRA20". Offer valid through 1/3/10.
My picks? I snagged the Ella Satin Peep toes in gray (shale) during the last "extra 20% off" sale, and ohmygosh they are darling darling darling, with a very comfy-and-easy-to-walk-in 3" heel. I will always love J. Crew's shoes, always. And they totally match this necklace perfectly. Yeah, please don't tell me I'm the only one that likes to match really dumb crap together when I'm bored, hm?

PS- And as always- don't forget to use your favorite cashback site while shopping. Ebates for me, woohoohoohoo.

Dear J. Crew:

Hahahahahahahaha, oh you're funny.

XOXOXO,
Chloe

Top 10 Favorite Looks of the Year (#5)

I just love this whole darn outfit. Admittedly, I haven't worn the Rachel Roy blazer much- the colors put it more into the "Spring" category for me, meaning I want to pair it with lots of ivories and whites. But it goes well with the black, too:

Deal(s) of The Day (Tuesday):

Free People
The deal: Shop the "End of the Year Cheer" sale and save 20% off when you purchase 3 or more sale items. No code required; discount is automatically applied at check out.
Picks? This Anthropologie-owned brand has sales few and far between; so while the discount isn't that major, it's still somethin'. I'm digging the Brocade Boyfriend Jacket, the Kimono sheer jacket, and the Fit and Flare Romper.

Ann Taylor
The deal: Take 40% off your entire purchase (regular AND sale merchandise) with code "Sale40".
Picks? They've been running this promo for a few days, but there's still lots to choose from- like this gorgeous Silk Twill Ruffle Front Top. I love how they have it styled here. Same with this yellow colorblock satin dress- which you can see styled here. I think that I have a little thing for spring. ;)

White House Black Market
The deal: Shop the winter sale for lots of good deals, plus use code "8988" for $20 off of any purchase $80+, or code "8033" for $25 any order $25+.
Picks? I love this "Grand tweed" jacket, the gorgeous Satin Trimmed jacket, and the ecru (white) chiffon-trim boyfriend jacket, which I own!

American Eagle
The deal: All jeans are on sale, plus get free shipping on all orders $100+.
Picks? Anyone who reads my blog often knows that I wear the AE Artist jeans often- they come in a short inseam (which works well on my 29" legs), look great, and they're cheap! This pair is on sale for $24.99, and this pair is on sale for only $19.99.

Couture Candy
The deal: Take 20% off your entire order with code "NEWYEAR", plus receive free shipping on all orders.
Picks? This Jenny Han Bussel dress- too pretty for words!

Skin Store
The deal: Take 20% off "premium" brands- Stila, Kinerase, Clarisonic, Molton Brown, Bliss, and moooore. You can also use code "FAB20" to take an additional 20% off, but certain restrictions do apply. Also, all orders $49+ ship free!
Picks? The Stila Eyeshadow Trio in Gold Glow- I own this little palette, and I never travel without it- it's the perfect thing to bring along on trips. I also got the "Champagne Glow" one for my mom for Christmas, and it's so pretty! This Clarisonic brush is also on sale for a nice little price, as is the Bliss Labs' Youth As We Know It moisture cream. My personal favorite, DDF'S Moisturizing Dew, isn't on sale with the "premium" brands but the "FAB20" code works for it- so it's 20% off! Niiiice.

Aldo
The deal: Today is the last day for an additional 30% off all sale merchandise, plus get free shipping on all orders $100+, no codes necessary for either offer.
Picks? The Sigmunda boots, 'cuz pleating is FUN! Also, the Frodis pumps, and this pretty little gold sequin-y scarf.

Folica
The deal: Take 15% off all professional flat irons and hair dryers on orders $50 with code "HAIR15", plus receive free shipping.
Picks? The Solia flat iron (♥). Sedus are also great, and how neat is this little Sedu mini iron to tuck into a purse or gym bag? I also own this Sedu blow dryer and hiiiighly recommend it, mmhm. It's amazing. I'm a big believer that good styling tools = good hair, and I'm happy happy happy to announce that I'll be giving away *one* of these awesome little tools on the 31st! So stay tuned, darlings- you'll just have to check back Thursday to see which one I'm giving away. ;)

Happy shopping, lovelies!

Have A Holly, Jolly Christmas (Okay!)

STOP. Picture time!

I'm contemplating how to steal Jason's Christmas gift (Bose Noise-Canceling Headphones SAY WHAT?)

Later that day: Covered in dogs. Literally.

Out for pizza for my dad's birthday. Love the face, dad.

Jason making his...pizza...loving...face?

Can you count all of the dogs in this picture? (I count six.)

On the phone with my gramma. That's how my dad wears his hat when talking on the phone to my gramma. If you talked to my gramma, you would understand.

The frost on the trees at the Target parking lot.

Nina. In a box.

Nina still. In a box.

Stevie on her puter.

Christmas morning- present opening time!

Proof that I was there- mah boot-ehs.

So Stevie is telling Husband to not open the gift she's holding first, but meanwhile she lets him (accidentally!) open up the controller to the gift. Oops. SURRRRPRISE! Confusion? SURRRRPRISE!

That's okay, it's still a kick ass gift. Readers, we've finally joined the year 2007 AND WE GOT A Wii! Thanks mom and dad and Stevie and Jason!

Stevie got a really heavy book. "What, do you have a test to study for?"

Kitty!

So tired.

Pretty scarves from my mom!

Petunia with her baby doll squeaky squirrel.

I got Stevie a signed book from John Irving. I think...she liked it. Brag, brag, brag (thank you, Tattered Cover!)

So this is funny because my mom gave that exact same bird bath de-icer to my dad as a birthday gift two days earlier, and he had the great idea to re-wrap it and re-gift it back to her for Christmas. He said he did that 'cuz she wouldn't let him do some last minute Christmas shopping at the truck stop.

Snooze.

Husband wants to steal Nina. Can't blame him.

Jason showing off his gifts.

So this is pretty much the coolest thing ever- a jelly bean dispenser off of Etsy. Also my dad's birthday gift, as he's the original Jelly Belly Bean Guy.

Gus haz a SAD.

And Kitty looks like a teddy bear.

The temp outside Christmas day. Kids, it was FUCKING COLD.

Olive, AKA "Shnood", AKA the weirdest chihuahua ever.

Hello Husband, I luff you.

Oh yes, of course. I know.

Somebody has pretty blue eyes. This is also his, "Hey hold on, I'm gonna do something funny!" face.

Then I make him blow air to show how cold it is. (we are also quite aware he was in desperate need of lint rolling, but by that point we were five days in with 9 dogs and had pretty much given up.)

Kitty being the biggest dork ever- she shoved her face into a pile of snow.

A little snow on her head? No bother.

It's all good when you're rolling in mah parent's hood.

THE END!
