In my quest to rock the fur vest (hee, I'm a poet...), I decided last night to do a little bit of searching around to see how other fashion bloggers wear their faux fur. As I mentioned earlier, it's a very trendy piece that I think could easily make me feel a bit odd or out of character, but I'm a Determined Mervin.
I WILL, READERS, WEAR THE FAUX FUR VEST.
During my research I stumbled upon this awesome little article over at style.la-mimi.com; Mimi suggests wearing the fur vest over a blazer. Brilliant! And, yes, exactly what I was looking for. Can you hear the little dim lightbulb over my head shattering into a gazillion pieces, readers? 'Cuz it just totally did; you'd better believe it.
(& thank you, Mimi!)
So! Happy with this little discovery (fur vest over a blazer! genius!), I decided to give it a try myself. One of my favorite pieces ever (and the very first Nanette Lepore piece I ever purchased two years ago, and gulp- at full price too) is my Nanette Lepore Bow Jacket. Blazers have done quite a bit of morphing lately, going from fitted, feminine, and flared to oversized and stolen from boyfriends (or, er, um- husbands, HUSBANDS!). I've been looking for a way to wear my Bow Jacket yet still look current, so why not pair if with the faux fur vest? I'm officially now killing two birds with one stone here, and it feels so very good indeed.
'Cuz oh gosh, I really hate birds:

Likes fashion, broccoli, ice cream, clarifying that she does not eat ice cream with her broccoli as to not cause worldwide panic, hoarding beauty products & pretty shoes, tickle fights with her husband (he would like to clarify that he does not like them back, OKAY?), anything covered in sprinkles, any alcoholic beverage made with Tang, live music, clicking the camera, sarcasm fonts, vases stuffed full of pretty flowers, and laughing hard until her belly hurts. Wants an adventurous life, lots of puppies, to never obtusely wander around with her fly down, and to be an iconic Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress with a bright, festive print when she grows up. This is where she bravely documents it all. (
