I think I spent too many hours in Old Navy in my younger years- totally seems like Peaches & Herb was always playing when I was in there. Am I right, or am I right?
Anyway. I have a love-hate relationship with Old Navy, readers, lately bordering more towards hate than love. I'm not sure why. They're great for cheap basics, sure, but how many cheap basics does a girl need? Yeah.
Yawn.
But! I do love Old Navy's outerwear. I always have, and I always will. It's cheap & chic and comes in a smattering of sizes (including talls and petites!). What's not to love about that?
I ordered this coat immediately after spying it on Gigi:
And here it is on me! I am wearing an XS Petite, if you're trying to figure out measurements:

But all in all, aside from the odd pairing with the boots, I love this coat. It fits well (or as I said to a co-worker, "Look! It's a petite size! And you can actually see my hands!" while shaking my hands violently in her face to demonstrate) and is cut quite nicely for being a $100 coat. The wool isn't the softest wool, but it isn't scratchy or rough either. It's typical ON quality. Looks great, feels...well, okay-ish.
Warmth is another factor here. These are coats are perfect to wear when you are going out and want to look darling; not coats you wear for going out and being warm. They are of a nice weight, but not lined in anything like Thinsulate, so use caution on those freezing nights where practicality (gasp!) might come before style. If you live in Colorado, readers, you know what I'm talkin' about.
The coat is lined in a gorgeous purple satin, though, and the Chinchilla color is a really pretty muted brown with a hint of gray. It is a bit of an odd color that isn't going to work on all skin tones, but I really like it. It's a nice deviation from the typical light camel colors we normally see in outerwear.
I also like the collar of the coat folded down more than I like it folded up. Folded up is fine, but it looks surprisingly elegant and crisp when pulled down. I really like having coats I can wear in different ways. It reminds me of when I was a little Chloe and would play Transformers with the neighbor boy across the street. And he would play Barbies with me using a Donny doll from NKOTB. And then he turned 16 and knocked some chick up. And then he dropped out of school. And...I have no idea where I'm going with this.
Oh yeah! Transformers! Transformations! This coat RULES.
Here are some more super cute coats from Old Navy for all less than $100; I'm pretty sure the purple tulip-sleeved one is callin' my name if, you know, a decent code happens to fall into my lap:
In other news- David Sedaris tonight @ The Buell. Yay! Oh what to wear, what to wear...

Chloe, Colorful Colorado. 5'8" (only) when teetering in her highest 6 inch Miu Miu platform heels. Likes fashion, broccoli, ice cream, clarifying that she does not eat ice cream with her broccoli as to not cause worldwide panic, hoarding beauty products & pretty shoes, tickle fights with her husband (he would like to clarify that he does not like them back, OKAY?), anything covered in sprinkles, any alcoholic beverage made with Tang, live music, clicking the camera, sarcasm fonts, vases stuffed full of pretty flowers, and laughing hard until her belly hurts. Wants an adventurous life, lots of puppies, to never obtusely wander around with her fly down, and to be an iconic Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress with a bright, festive print when she grows up. This is where she bravely documents it all. (
